Must have Retail/Point of Sale (POS) experience with audit experience as well

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure and Virtualization Consultant to assess their current hardware environment, provide modernization recommendations and lead the implementation of the updated virtualization platform. This role involves a mix of architectural planning, hands-on engagement and project execution along with building out a dashboard to monitor things going forward. This is an audit of a tier 1 application (POS)

Responsibilities:

• Conduct a full evaluation of the existing server, storage and network hardware.
• Identify gaps, risks, and lifecycle considerations across the current infrastructure.
• Recommend updated hardware and virtualization solutions (VmWare, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
• Design the target state architecture, including compute, storage, networking and resilience.
• Lead the deployment, configuration and migration to the new virtualization environment.
• Document the architecture, implementation steps, and ongoing operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and IT Stakeholders to align recommendations with business needs.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with enterprise virtualization (VmWare, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
• Proven background evaluating and designing server/storage architectures.
• Hands-on experience implementing hyperconverged or traditional virtualizations stacks.

Strong experience with: VMware vSphere / ESXi Microsoft Hyper-V Windows Server & Linux administration SAN/NAS storage technologies Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls)
