Position Summary
The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), is seeking an experienced Senior AS400 / 2E Application Support Developer to provide production support and maintenance for its legacy Workers’ Compensation systems, including the Automated Information Control System (AICS) operating on the IBM AS400 platform.
The selected resource will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving production issues, performing code modifications using 2E (Synon) development tools, supporting system integrations, and ensuring the continued reliability and performance of critical Workers’ Compensation applications.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Issue Resolution
- Provide ongoing support for DWC production systems, including the AICS application.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify application issues.
- Triage, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents and defects.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Coordinate with business users, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and clarify production problems.
Application Development & Maintenance
- Design, develop, test, and implement code changes using 2E (Synon) development tools.
- Modify and enhance existing AS400 applications to address defects, improve performance, and support business needs.
- Maintain source code, technical documentation, and deployment procedures.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
System Integration & Support
- Support interfaces and integrations with the Filebound Content Management System.
- Troubleshoot data exchange and integration-related issues between AICS and external systems.
- Assist in maintaining system stability and data integrity across integrated applications.
Business & Technical Collaboration
- Work closely with DWC business users to understand operational needs and production issues.
- Provide technical recommendations for system improvements and modernization opportunities.
- Assist in knowledge transfer and documentation efforts to support long-term system sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of senior-level application development experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with 2E (Synon) development on IBM AS400/iSeries platforms.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting and interfacing with Filebound Content Management solutions.
- Minimum 4 years of experience maintaining and supporting a Workers’ Compensation system, preferably a state government Workers’ Compensation application.
- Strong experience with:
- IBM AS400 / iSeries environments
- Legacy application support and maintenance

- Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Change management and deployment processes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting the State of Missouri Workers’ Compensation System (AICS).
- Experience working within state government or public sector environments.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation business processes, regulations, and claims management workflows.
- Familiarity with legacy system modernization initiatives.
