Summary

AKIMA Technical Solutions (ATS) is seeking an experienced Cyber Range Manager to support U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The Cyber Range Manager will design, build, operate, and sustain closed-network cyber range environments that train, certify, and evaluate cyber operators and mission teams across the Special Operations enterprise. This role ensures the range remains a secure, realistic, and continuously improving platform for advanced cyber training and mission rehearsal.

The Cyber Range Manager will lead the planning, development, and operation of SOCOM's mission-focused cyber range environment. This role is responsible for delivering realistic, secure, and highly adaptable training and assessment capabilities that support Special Operations Forces (SOF) cyber readiness, mission rehearsal, and advanced threat emulation. The Cyber Range Manager works closely with operators, cyber mission teams, intelligence elements, and training commands to ensure the range directly aligns with operational requirements and emerging threat landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the SOCOM cyber range, ensuring availability, stability, and security of all systems, networks, and training environments.
  • Design and implement mission-relevant cyber scenarios, including offensive, defensive, and combined SOF cyber operations, tailored to real-world adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with SOF cyber operators, intelligence analysts, and mission planners to replicate operationally accurate environments and threat behaviors.
  • Maintain technical infrastructure including virtualization platforms, cloud environments, classified and unclassified networks, and specialized SOF systems.
  • Oversee scenario development for mission rehearsal, red team/blue team exercises, and advanced cyber training evolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, SOCOM, and component-level cybersecurity, accreditation, and operational security requirements.
  • Manage accounts, access control, privileged operations, and all supporting documentation for cyber range usage.
  • Track readiness metrics, training outcomes, system performance, and capability gaps; provide leadership with data-driven improvements.
  • Support acquisition planning and coordination with vendors, government partners, and other DoD cyber ranges to ensure interoperability and capability modernization.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for SOCOM cyber training, simulation, and mission support capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Minimum 6 years of Logistics Experience.
  • Familiarity with Funding Requirements.
  • Experience supporting or operating within SOCOM cyber mission environments.
  • Experience managing cyber ranges, cyber labs, or advanced simulation/training platforms.
  • Familiarity with DRMO, Acquisitions and Inventory Management.
  • Familiarity with Asset Tracking & Management Technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber operations, including defensive cyber operations, offensive cyber operations, and SOF-specific mission sets.
  • Proficiency with virtualization, containerization, cloud services, network architecture, and enterprise-level system administration.
  • Ability to design and orchestrate complex cyber scenarios reflective of real-world threat actors.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity standards, RMF, STIGs, and secure network operations.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with operators, commanders, SMEs, and technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or related field; equivalent military or operational experience acceptable (preferred).

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working directly with SOCOM components or SOF cyber/electromagnetic mission units.
  • Understanding of Joint Cyber Operations and Joint Training environments.
  • Hands-on experience with red team operations, threat emulation, or cyber mission force activities.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, OSCP, GCIA, or similar.
  • Experience managing training programs, capability development efforts, or technical operations at scale.
