Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Preparing financial statements and reporting are a large part of the senior accountant's day-to-day work. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

2. Overseeing routine department activities, such as disbursing checks and processing payroll, to ensure that they are undertaken efficiently.

3. Assisting in the development and implementation of cost-effective policies and procedures for all accounting and financial controls.

4. Leading the execution of month-end and year-end close processes.

5. Reviewing and reconciling all general ledger accounts and ensuring that all financial reporting deadlines are met.

6. Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and reporting variances.

7. Ensuring compliance with state and federal government contract requirements and tax filings.

8. Working with the financial team to improve financial procedures.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant position should possess the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required.

2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting in a government contracting environment.

3. Proficient in accounting software, specifically Netsuite or a related ERP.

4. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Reporting, and government regulations.

5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

6. High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.

8. Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work with minimal supervision.
