A globally leading consumer device company is looking for Sustaining Quality Engineer to co-lead development, and ramp for the next iteration of a Softgoods product.
Key responsibilities:
• Partner with multi-functional teams and contract manufacturers to evaluate design and processes at the concept phase and through ramp
• Assess the impact of proposed changes on product performance, manufacturability, and compliance with existing quality standards
• Utilize quality inspection tools to evaluate cosmetic and dimensional part characteristics
• Lead root cause analysis investigations for field failures or manufacturing issues
• Upgrade measurement technologies, control quality strategies, information systems, and manufacturing methods to align with the modified design to achieve ambitious specifications at massive production scale
• Compile and evaluate data to recommend appropriate limits and variables for process and part specifications
• Lead activities to balance unparalleled quality with scalable yields
• Work with internal and external groups to ensure that proper definition of quality expectations and that appropriate assurance techniques are used for the product
• Coordinate all Quality Engineering functions for a program, serving as project manager to lead efforts at supplier locations. Establish audit procedures appropriate to the program and supplier to ensure consistency to quality standards. Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes
• Drive corrective actions multi-functionally with internal and external team members
• Present quality readiness, performance, and path to closure on challenges to cross functional and executive audiences
• Travel internationally to supplier sites – 25%
Key Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing systems engineering, Chemical engineering or similar)
• 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated proficiency with standard quality methodologies and tools (e.g., FMEA, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process Controls, Control Plans, Design of Experiments)
• Direct experience managing quality deliverables for existing product lines and implementing post-launch changes.
• Proven track record of leading qualification activities for new components, materials, or design modifications
• Working knowledge of mechanical quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operations
• Experience with the utilization of measurement systems
• Experience with any of the following: mechanical enclosures, textiles, leather, castings, plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, (e.g. Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Medical Devices, Etc)
• Hands-on experience developing and executing test plans, analyzing test data, and writing comprehensive technical reports

Pay range: $ 75.00 - $ 90.00 (DOE)
