The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:Conducts, tests, and research within the Tritium and Hydrogen laboratories. Assists more experienced engineers or scientists in designing and setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, and collecting data. Diagnoses and performs preventative maintenance on system components including recovery, replacement, and reconfiguration of damaged sensitive components. Manages inventory of contaminated equipment and components and handles decontamination of radiological components and activated materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Monitors and maintains experiments and operations within the Tritium Science group. Oversees engineering design, documentation, purchasing, scheduling, and safety assessments. Assists in the development, installation, and testing of new components and systems as needed.
- Handles decontamination of radiological components and survey activated materials.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks on tritium gloveboxes and experimental systems within the laboratory to ensure system components are in optimal condition. Operates and maintains various pumps, including cryogenic, roughing, and turbo pumps. Conducts testing and installations related to the vacuum system.
- Maintaining radiation safety diagnostics and equipment (tracking calibrations, performing weekly radiological surveys, etc.)
- Performs measurements in support of the experimental program within the Tritium Science group
- Other Duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences or engineering and 1 year of relevant experience required
