Description:
This role serves as a functional and technical subject matter expert for audit automation, data engineering, and audit analytics. Supports the execution of all theatrical distribution audits, including audits of major exhibition circuits. This role is heavily focused on designing, maintaining, and enhancing automation scripts within a custom Microsoft Access database, as well as data engineering and analysis. The position requires the ability to understand, evaluate, and advise on data structures within internal PostGresSQL databases.
Advanced proficiency in Visual Basic and SQL is required to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated script and Access database functionality. The role will also collaborate closely with IT support teams to diagnose and address data-related or technical issues involving internal department databases and external data providers. A deep understanding of the audit database, along with the Visual Basic and SQL code that powers it, is critical to success in this role.
This position is best suited for someone who is motivated to drive large-scale, systemic improvements within a department. Works independently with minimal guidance, while collaborating across Audit leadership, and IT to drive process improvements, and support informed decision-making. Work relies on strong understanding of department-defined business rules and audit processes. Acts as a resource and thought partner for colleagues, sharing best practices and technical guidance to strengthen overall team capability.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

Partners with the Manager of Theatrical Audits to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of automated and real-time theatrical audit processes, including audit templates, billing logic, invoice generation, and keeping process documentation. 45%
Drives process design improvements to facilitate the extraction, analysis and formatting of box office data for the in-house audit team, the external auditing firm, and other business partners. 25%
Facilitates in-house automated/real-time audit, analysis, billing and collection. 15%
Leads forecasting, recalculation, and what-if analyses to guide strategic decisions. 15%
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years' experience as a data analyst or data engineer in a large corporation
Excellent logical, analytical, and problem-solving with a strong results-driven mindset
Demonstrates professional skepticism (questioning mind) and constructively challenges the status quo
High proficiency in SQL/Visual Basic required
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. VLOOKPUP, Pivot Table, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, etc.), and strong working knowledge of other MS Office applications (Access, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
Communicates ideas, analyses, and conclusions clearly in both written and verbal formats.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and build consensus with diverse teams and stakeholders
Proven experience analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable insights
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, managing priorities within broad guidelines and policies
Resourceful self-starter

Experience with a motion picture studio or theatre chain is a plus, but not required
Required Education: BS Computer Science, Finance, or a related analytical
