Job Description:
Client is seeking a senior employment law attorney with experience litigating and advising on U.S. employment law matters. The successful candidate will report to the Associate General Counsel Head of Legal, USA, and will provide legal support to the Human Resources department.
Responsibilities:
Provide proactive, day-to-day employment law advice, assistance, and counseling
Partner with HR to manage and respond to employee relations issues, investigations, and grievances
Draft, customize, and update separation and release agreements for terminating employees
Review disciplinary actions and terminations in collaboration with HR
Assist in managing and responding to subpoenas and document requests
Recommend, implement, and continuously improve employment law related training programs
Respond to administrative complaints and Department of Labor investigations
Maintain employment law files and databases
Respond to EEOC complaints and agency inquiries
Assist with employment-related litigation matters
Provide guidance to other employment counsel and help develop employment practice strategy
Manage and supervise outside counsel, as required
Qualifications:
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience focused on employment law and litigation; prior in-house experience preferred
Juris Doctor from a top-tier law school and admission in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state
Strong analytical skills, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work proactively and independently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate effectively within the legal team and cross-functionally with other groups
Willingness to take on matters outside of core expertise, as needed
Ability to work closely with HR and legal team members; this is an on-site role and not a work-from-home position
