Location: San Antonio, TX (Onsite)

Duration: 6 - 12 months

 

Job Description:

We are seeking experienced Release Train Engineers (RTEs) to lead and facilitate Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within a large enterprise transformation environment.

This role requires strong leadership in scaling Agile practices, orchestrating multiple workstreams, and driving program-level delivery across complex initiatives. The RTE will act as a servant leader, guiding teams, removing impediments, and ensuring value delivery aligned with business goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Program & ART Leadership

  • Lead and facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies including PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt, and Scrum of Scrums.
  • Coordinate multiple Agile teams to deliver on shared program objectives.
  • Ensure alignment between business priorities and technical delivery.
  • Communicate program roadmap, status updates, and risks to stakeholders.

 

Risk & Delivery Management

  • Identify and escalate impediments impacting ART progress.
  • Monitor program risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Track performance metrics, development issues, and delivery milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement across teams.

 

Stakeholder & Financial Management

  • Facilitate communication across business, product, architecture, and engineering teams.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, and overall program performance.
  • Ensure cost, performance, and schedule targets are achieved.

 

Agile Coaching & Process Improvement

  • Coach teams in Lean and Agile best practices.
  • Support scaling frameworks (SAFe or similar).
  • Promote transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of relentless improvement.

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or senior Agile Program Lead.
  • Strong understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or enterprise Agile delivery.
  • Experience coordinating multiple Agile teams within a program.
  • Ability to manage program-level roadmaps and cross-team dependencies.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and executive reporting skills.
  • Experience managing risk, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to work onsite in San Antonio, TX.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe RTE Certification (strongly preferred).
  • Experience working in financial services or regulated industries.
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture, cloud initiatives, or large transformation programs.

 

Must Have Skills

  1. Proven Release Train Engineer (RTE) experience
  2. Strong experience with Scaled Agile / SAFe
  3. Program-level coordination of multiple Agile teams
  4. Risk management & dependency management expertise
  5. Executive-level stakeholder communication
