About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that power our core platform. You will work closely with product managers, DevOps engineers, and fellow developers to build reliable, cloud-native applications while mentoring junior team members and driving engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security).

• Develop high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices following modern software engineering principles.

• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including advanced geospatial data management using PostGIS.

• Build, containerize, and deploy applications using Docker and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar automation tools.

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, EKS, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure code.

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through technical guidance and best practices.

• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in on-call support and incident response.

• Continuously improve system reliability, scalability, security, and engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong programming experience in Java.

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Spring Framework, including:

  • Spring Boot

  • Spring MVC

  • Spring Data JPA

  • Spring Security

• Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and query optimization.

• Experience working with PostGIS for geospatial data processing.

• Hands-on experience with Docker containerization.

• Strong experience deploying and managing applications using Kubernetes.

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar tools.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, software architecture, object-oriented design, and design patterns.

• Experience with Git version control and Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working in fully remote teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, Amazon SQS, or similar messaging platforms.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.

• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms including Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.

• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and DevSecOps principles.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development (TDD).

• Exposure to open-source software development or contributions to public repositories.

• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems.
