Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Onsite Clearwater, FL 33762
Duration: 13-Week Contract -1-3 Months Contract

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-Hour Lunch)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. This role will focus on engineering analysis, component design, product development, and production support for existing and new vehicle platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD/DraftSight, aluminum sheet metal design, and extrusion weldments. Experience designing custom modular aluminum vehicle bodies is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop heavy-duty vehicle components and systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and technical analyses.
  • Support engineering projects through design, documentation, and reporting activities.
  • Create and maintain layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Select appropriate parts, materials, and components based on engineering requirements.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and production teams.
  • Analyze and resolve engineering issues reported through verbal and written communication.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to address technical concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, drawing standards, and company procedures.
  • Prepare technical proposals, reports, quotations, and presentations.
  • Utilize analytical and mathematical methods to optimize system and component performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other engineering duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Internship experience or at least 6 months of relevant engineering experience.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and manufacturing methods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with automotive, truck, heavy-duty vehicle, or mobile equipment systems.
  • Proficiency with high-level CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of aluminum fabrication, sheet metal design, and welded structures.
  • Experience supporting production environments and resolving engineering issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
