Summary

Net Zero Customer Engagement Program Manager
The Select Group is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager who enjoys working as a hands-on individual contributor within a small team. This role will partner with sales and account teams to support major customers through sustainability reporting, questionnaires, RFPs, product information, and ongoing engagement initiatives. The Program Manager will also help collect product lifecycle and emissions data, support internal communications and employee engagement, and collaborate with product teams on circularity, lifecycle assessments, sustainable design, energy efficiency, and green data center initiatives.
Must-Have Skills
  • Approximately 3-5+ years of corporate sustainability experience; candidates with additional experience can be considered if they are genuinely interested in remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Experience working as an internal sustainability practitioner within a company strongly preferred over primarily consulting experience.
  • Strong understanding of corporate sustainability, Net Zero, GHG/emissions, decarbonization, sustainability reporting, and related concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Communication and relationship management are critical to success in this role.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers/clients and supporting customer-facing sustainability initiatives, reporting, requests, RFPs, or relationships.
  • Strong cross-functional program/project management experience.
  • Comfortable working with sustainability data and reporting and able to understand, analyze, and communicate data effectively.
  • Strong Excel and general data manipulation skills.
  • Tech savvy and comfortable learning and working within enterprise applications and a Google Workspace environment.
  • Self-directed and able to operate effectively within a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across customers, Sales/Account Management, Sustainability, Product, HR, and other internal teams.
  • Candidate must genuinely be interested in the scope and level of this position and comfortable working primarily as an individual contributor.
Plus Skills
  • Technology, electronics, hardware manufacturing, cloud, AI, or data center industry experience.
  • Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) experience or familiarity.
  • Circularity or sustainable product design experience.
  • Sustainable supply chain experience.
  • Experience engaging product/engineering teams around sustainability, energy efficiency, or green product initiatives.
  • Engineering or other technical educational/background experience.
  • Experience with enterprise sustainability/data management platforms; specific Salesforce experience is not required.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as Gemini, Claude, or Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience with renewable energy, EACs, carbon offsets/removals, PLM systems, or green data center initiatives.
  • Experience developing sustainability communications, training, employee engagement, website content, or other internal/external messaging.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Partner with account and sales teams to support sustainability relationships with large customers.
  • Respond to customer sustainability inquiries, questionnaires, surveys, RFP requirements, and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Prepare and provide customers with information regarding sustainability performance, product sustainability, and Net Zero/GHG initiatives.
  • Develop customer outreach, engagement programs, partnerships, and initiatives related to sustainability and emissions reduction.
  • Build two-way sustainability relationships with customers, both providing information to customers and obtaining downstream emissions/product lifecycle information from them.
  • Track customer sustainability requirements, priorities, requests, and performance and communicate relevant information internally.
  • Support sustainability reporting and work with internal team members, contractors, and interns to collect and analyze required data.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sustainability, Sales/Account Management, Supply Chain, Product, HR, and other teams.
  • Develop internal sustainability communications, training, capacity-building, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Potentially support product sustainability initiatives involving LCA, circularity, sustainable design, energy efficiency, and green data centers.
  • Identify opportunities to connect customer sustainability priorities with product and sustainability initiatives.
  • Use technology, enterprise applications, data tools, and AI productivity tools to improve efficiency and streamline sustainability workflows.
