Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our technology team in Toronto, Ontario. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable software applications while working closely with engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders. This opportunity is well suited for entry level candidates and early-career professionals with a Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field who are looking to build their software engineering careers in a collaborative and technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable and scalable software applications.
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Work with programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Work with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver software solutions.
  • Follow Agile/Scrum development practices and participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
  • Use Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
  • Write unit and integration tests and contribute to automated testing.
  • Assist with deployment and maintenance of applications in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement of software products.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in:
    • Information Technology (IT)
    • Computer Science
    • Software Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Information Systems
    • or another closely related technical field.
  • Graduation/completion between 2022 and 2026.
  • Strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, and Software Development.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and web services.
  • Knowledge of Git/GitHub and software development workflows.
  • Understanding of software testing, debugging, and SDLC processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, academic, or project experience in software development.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, or Django.
  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of Docker and CI/CD concepts.
  • Exposure to microservices architecture.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Personal, academic, or open-source software development projects.

Education

Required: Master''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

CAD $95,000 – $120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
