Summary

We are seeking a Chassis Design Engineer II to join a leading global automotive company in Raymond, OH. This role is responsible for the design and development of chassis components and structures, supporting advanced vehicle programs from concept through production.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing automotive chassis systems, strong CAD modeling capabilities, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with suppliers, test engineers, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities
Design and develop chassis components including subframes, engine mounts, suspension, and steering system components
Create robust 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA V6
Develop and maintain design intent models capable of supporting major revisions
Collaborate with design, test, and supplier teams to analyze and resolve technical issues
Evaluate supplier technical proposals and ensure components/services meet engineering requirements
Support development schedules by managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations
Apply GD&T principles and design for manufacturability methodologies
Create and interpret basic CAE models including stiffness and natural frequency analysis
Participate in research, testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience
BS or MS degree in Engineering required
Prior experience in chassis component design preferred
Experience with aluminum die castings and stamped/welded structures strongly preferred
Proficiency with CATIA V6 required
Solid modeling required
Surface modeling preferred
Ability to create and interpret 2D engineering drawings
Understanding of GD&T principles
Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability
Ability to quickly learn new standards and engineering methodologies
Excellent analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Background
Automotive chassis development experience
Experience supporting multiple vehicle development projects
Familiarity with CAE analysis tools and validation processes
Strong communication and supplier coordination skills

Rate: 40 W2 per hour
Duration: 12+ months
