Workday Payroll Functional Consultant (US & Canada)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Functional Consultant with strong US and Canada payroll expertise to support a new Workday Payroll implementation. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, HR, and technical teams to design, configure, and deploy payroll solutions that meet regulatory, compliance, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support end-to-end Workday Payroll implementation for US and Canada.

• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into Workday Payroll configurations.

• Configure payroll elements including earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, retro, and year-end processing.

• Ensure compliance with US federal/state and Canadian federal/provincial payroll regulations.

• Support payroll testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, parallel payroll, and UAT.

• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors (tax, benefits, time tracking).

• Assist with data conversion, payroll validation, and go-live support.

• Provide post-go-live support, issue resolution, and payroll optimization recommendations.

• Create functional documentation, configuration workbooks, and end-user training materials.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Workday Payroll Functional Consultant.

• Hands-on experience with US and Canada payroll implementations in Workday.

• Strong knowledge of US payroll taxes, state/local regulations, and Canadian payroll (CRA, ROE, provincial rules).

• Experience supporting new Workday Payroll implementations (not just AMS).

• Solid understanding of payroll integrations with Time Tracking, Benefits, and Finance.

• Experience with parallel payroll testing and payroll reconciliation.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Workday Payroll Certification (US and/or Canada).

• Experience working in hybrid or onsite client environments.

• Exposure to Workday Time Tracking and Absence.

• Experience with large enterprise or multi-state payroll environments.
