We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Boone, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the role of Senior Cloud Engineer,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Architect, design, build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services supporting reliable deployment and operation of ministry-critical workloads across development and production environments.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and application delivery using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, AI tools, and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Cloud Engineers, promoting engineering excellence, skill development, technical consistency, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Lead infrastructure monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation, driving improvements in platform resilience, performance, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, compliance, and technical teams to implement cloud security, governance, and access-control best practices while evaluating emerging technologies and developing internal tooling and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study and seven (7) or more years of Cloud Engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and Linux administration, including deploying, managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing containerized workloads at scale, with supporting experience in Docker and related container technologies.
  • Experience with cloud and platform technologies, including virtualization and distributed storage solutions such as VMware, oVirt, and Hyper-V.
  • Working knowledge of automation, scripting, observability, and security tooling, including Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Grafana, Prometheus, firewalls, and network segmentation, with practical experience leveraging AI tools to support cloud operations and engineering workflows.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire.
