Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A mechanical design engineer with strong SolidWorks skills, experience in sheet metal and mechanical assemblies, familiarity with PDM systems, capable of thermal/structural analysis, prototyping, and DFM, ideally with some exposure to optical hardware systems.

1. CAD Proficiency & Tools

• Primary CAD: SolidWorks (mandatory)
• Nice-to-have: Thermal analysis tools (e.g., FLOW) 
• Candidates don’t need multiple CAD tools; strong SolidWorks skills are key

2. Design Responsibilities

• Work on full product design and modifying existing designs
• Senior: larger projects, product ownership, design leadership
• Projects may involve optics-related hardware: optical load boards, optical modules

3. Industry & Component Experience

• Sheet metal design
• Machine / mechanical components
• Experience with large PDM systems
• Exposure to optical or thermal hardware is a plus

4. Simulation & Analysis

• Role involves more than CAD modeling
• Candidates should perform or understand thermal analysis and possibly structural simulations
• Company provides simulation tools; willingness to learn is important

5. Experience Level & Key Skills

• Detailed mechanical documentation
• Thermal & structural simulations
• DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
• Prototype development
• Ability to run/contribute to design group workflows
• Understanding of engineering workflow/process (“flow”)
