Title / Position: FinOps Manager
Pay Rate: $80-90/hr
Location: Remote
- Location: Remote working 100% - Working Hours: Monday-Friday 9am to 5:30pm eastern time. All resources on the program must support occasional incident/issue during non-core business hours.
- Travel: Must be willing to travel occasionally to the MD/VA/DC area, 2-3x per year
- Degree: BA/BS
- Certifications: FinOps Certifications
- Clearance: Public trust needed
- If not citizen: Applicants shall have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior to submitting an application for a Federal ID Card.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience that includes cloud financial operations and supervisory experience
- Required:
- FinOps Certification
- Experience leading teams in FinOps
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership, Communication and Financial mindset
- Good customer service and communication skills, to include presenting to all levels of leadership
- Must have good problem solving skills
- Preferred Skills:
- DMV residents preferred
- Deep understanding of FinOps principles
- Travel: Must be willing to travel occasionally to the MD/VA/DC area, on an as needed basis.
Day to day
The Cloud FinOps Manager leads a team of FinOps Analysts and Engineers responsible for optimizing cloud financial management, governance, and operational efficiency across the organization. This role provides strategic oversight, technical leadership, and client-facing engagement to ensure successful delivery of cloud financial operations initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing FinOps team, fostering cross-functional collaboration and maintaining expertise in emerging cloud technologies and cost management best practices
- Drive measurable cloud cost optimization across multi-cloud environments by reducing waste, improving forecasting accuracy, and enhancing budget predictability through proactive financial management
- Establish and mature FinOps governance frameworks that increase financial transparency, strengthen risk management, and standardize reporting, automation, and cost allocation processes
- Deliver clear, actionable financial insights and performance reporting to elevate executive decision-making and align cloud investments with strategic business objectives
- Optimize vendor, contract, and subcontractor performance to maximize the value of cloud investments while ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery of financial deliverables
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional Cloud FinOps organization consisting of two teams (~12 professionals), including FinOps analysts and FinOps engineers setting priorities, monitoring performance, and ensuring successful execution of cloud cost optimization initiatives in a collaborative culture
- Leverage deep expertise in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform pricing models and FinOps best practices to drive cost optimization, strengthen financial governance, and advance organizational maturity
- Serve as a primary client liaison, engaging with customers, vendors, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to communicate financial insights, align priorities, and coordinate delivery of dashboards, reports, and optimization recommendations
- Drive continuous improvement of cloud financial management processes, including forecasting, reporting, compliance, and adoption of emerging technologies and cost management tools
- Provide technical, administrative, and operational management for assigned projects and task orders, including oversight of contracts and subcontractor performance
- Participate in the development of project plans, proposals, reports, schedules, task orders, and administrative documentation
- Perform high-level technical services and advisory support on complex or strategic cloud financial management initiatives
- Conduct workload planning and capacity assessments; provide recommendations to clients regarding task prioritization and resource allocation
- Establish and manage risk tracking processes, proactively identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks
- Attend customer meetings and serve as a primary client liaison as needed, ensuring clear communication of financial insights, risks, and recommendations
- Interact with cloud vendors, subcontractors, government agencies and internal stakeholders to coordinate financial governance efforts
- Oversee and coordinate development of deliverables, dashboards, reports, and optimization recommendations
- Ensure quality assurance and compliance with all project deliverables with contractual, regulatory, and organizational standards
- Maintain current knowledge of cloud technologies, FinOps best practices, cost management tools, and industry trends
- Drive continuous improvement of cloud cost governance frameworks, financial transparency, and accountability processes
