Genesis10 is currently seeking a Windows Automation Engineer - Hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX and Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. The Windows Automation Engineer is responsible for automating the end-to-end software update lifecycle for Windows operating systems and Windows-based applications. This role focuses on patching, certification, automated testing, and controlled deployments across development, test, and production environments, ensuring stability, security, and compliance in large-scale enterprise platforms. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for Windows OS and application updates
- Automate patching, upgrades, and configuration management at scale
- Build reusable automation using PowerShell, Ansible, Python or similar tooling
- Standardize and optimize deployment workflows across environments
- Implement automated pre-deployment certification checks including patch validation, application compatibility testing, and dependency/version checks
- Develop and execute automated testing (smoke, regression, post-deployment health checks)
- Support phased rollout strategies (pilot, canary, regional, enterprise-wide)
- Automate Windows software deployments with minimal or zero downtime
- Implement rollback and recovery mechanisms for failed updates
- Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and enterprise change management processes
- Partner with release, application, and infrastructure teams to align deployments
- Support Windows platforms including Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and enterprise endpoints
- Troubleshoot automation, update, and deployment failures
- Improve resilience, observability, and reliability of update processes
- Ensure updates align with enterprise security standards and audit controls
- Integrate vulnerability remediation and compliance checks into automated workflows
- Produce and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications: - 5+ years of Windows engineering or platform support experience
- 3+ years focused on automation, patching, or deployment engineering
- Strong experience administering Windows Server environments
- Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation
- Experience with Windows patching and deployment tools
- Application patching and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.)
- Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows security concepts
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, TCP/IP)
- Familiarity with PKI, certificates, and secure communications
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work across application, security, and platform teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable operating in highly regulated, enterprise environments
Desired Qualifications: - Experience with Ansible for Windows, DSC, or Terraform
- Experience supporting mission-critical or regulated systems
- Familiarity with IT risk, audit, and change management processes
Pay range: $78.04 - $86.04 per hour
