Job Description:
We are seeking a Communications Specialist to support strategic communications, events, and enterprise-level initiatives for a leading organization supporting all BCBS plans. This role serves as a backfill and will contribute to strategic planning, conference support, and development of communications materials across a variety of internal audiences. Candidates must have strong writing, editing, and communication lifecycle experience, along with the ability to manage event logistics and collaborate with external partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3–6 years of professional communications experience (7+ years will not be considered).
- Experience as a communications generalist with strong writing and editing skills.
- Prior experience supporting events or conferences, including logistical coordination.
- Ability to develop SOPs and manage communication processes.
- Strong understanding of communication metrics and documentation best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- No healthcare industry experience required.
- Portfolio not required for submission but must be provided if selected for interview.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Planning
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts for enterprise-wide communication initiatives.
- Understand business objectives and translate them into clear, effective communication strategies and deliverables.
Writing & Editing (Approx. 25%)
- Draft, edit, and review high-quality communications for internal audiences across all levels, including executives.
- Develop content for newsletters, websites, and internal communication channels.
- Ensure messaging is clear, accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational goals.
Communications Lifecycle Management (Approx. 25%)
- Support all phases of the communication lifecycle, from planning and drafting to distribution and post-campaign review.
- Analyze metrics and prepare documentation to assess communication effectiveness.
Process & Documentation (Approx. 25%)
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other communication-related documentation.
- Ensure documentation is current, organized, and aligned with best practices.
External Communication Support (Approx. 25%)
- Collaborate with external customers/stakeholders to coordinate and deliver communication materials.
- Provide support for enterprise-level messaging and align external communication with organizational priorities.
Event & Conference Support
- Provide logistical and planning support for conferences and events, including a major annual conference held in April at varying locations.
- Assist with event communications, planning materials, agendas, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
