Summary

We are seeking a skilled Meteorologist with expertise in operational weather forecasting, atmospheric science, and numerical weather prediction (NWP). The ideal candidate will analyze forecast performance, validate weather models, investigate forecast discrepancies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve forecasting accuracy and customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform operational weather forecasting and atmospheric analysis.
  • Evaluate and validate weather forecast models using statistical verification techniques.
  • Investigate forecast errors and conduct root-cause analysis to improve model performance.
  • Analyze and interpret NWP outputs and meteorological datasets.
  • Develop data-driven insights using Python and SQL.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to enhance forecasting solutions.
  • Communicate complex meteorological concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • MS in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field; or BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong expertise in operational weather forecasting and atmospheric science.
  • Deep understanding of Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models.
  • Experience with forecast verification, model validation, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for investigating forecast performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with machine learning-based weather forecasting techniques.
  • Background working in technology-driven environments alongside software engineering and product teams.
  • Client-facing, consulting, or customer advisory experience.
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools and modern development workflows.
