Quality Assurance Engineer

Position Summary The Quality Assurance Engineer advances and executes quality control initiatives designed to maintain consistent, high-standard production across advanced manufacturing operations. This role requires a hands-on, metrics-driven professional who uses statistical analysis and proactive problem-solving to protect product integrity, optimize yield, and reduce operational costs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing & Engineering Support: Provide technical quality oversight for production teams and engineering departments. Partner directly with operations to implement quality protocols and verify standards on active production lines.
  • Defect Investigation & Corrective Action: Perform root cause analysis on internal non-conformances, scrap, rework, and returned materials (RMA). Analyze failure trends to recommend and implement preventive actions that protect company profitability.
  • Inspection & Metrology: Coordinate in-process and final product inspections ensuring dimensional accuracy, visual compliance, and proper packaging. Operate precision measurement tools-including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, and height/depth gauges.
  • Quality Systems & Auditing: Maintain compliance with global Quality Management System (QMS) frameworks and customer-specific standard certifications. Participate in internal audits and cross-functional teams such as APQP and process review groups.
  • Documentation & Risk Management: Lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) reviews and maintain Control Plans for assigned production lines. Prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission packages and maintain rigorous document control.
  • Process Capability & Measurement Studies: Conduct process capability studies on current and new equipment. Direct Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R studies and calibration oversight.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Log and analyze defect tracking data, scrap reports, and customer claims, keeping senior leadership informed of critical quality risks or performance trends.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficiency in reading technical blueprints and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong background in mathematical calculation, statistical process control (SPC), and capability analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions, specifications, standard operating procedures, and industry memos.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills with a focus on deadline adherence and professional composure under pressure.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in quality engineering or quality control within an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with international quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent QMS frameworks).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Preferred:
  • Prior experience in high-precision, high-volume production environments (such as advanced automotive or precision industrial manufacturing).
  • Direct experience managing Gage R&R studies, metrology protocols, and tool calibration systems.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Climate-controlled production facility requiring regular presence on the floor.
  • Moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, and routinely lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety eyewear, at all times on the shop floor.
