Senior Power BI Developer

Job Description:

The Senior Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a stable and reliable Power BI reporting environment. The resource will work closely with business users, developers, and agency stakeholders to deliver dashboards, custom visualizations, data validation, and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain a stable, reliable, and effective Power BI Service environment for reporting.
• Develop interactive dashboards and reports for various business users.
• Create complex Power BI custom UI visualizations based on business specifications.
• Perform data validation to ensure data accuracy and quality across multiple datasets.
• Collaborate with developers to improve reporting functionality and establish best practices.
• Gather business requirements, identify new features, prepare documentation, and lead technical meetings.
• Develop technical manuals, user guides, and technical documentation.
• Lead Power BI technical training, mentoring, and co-development sessions with business area employees.
• Ensure all reports meet agency standards and performance requirements.
• Configure security, accessibility, permissions, and access management controls for the reporting environment.
• Develop data refresh strategies using Azure SQL Server and other applicable data sources.
• Prepare and deliver daily project status reports, tracking progress against project milestones.
• Perform knowledge transfer and support agency employees.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of advanced Power BI development experience.
• Strong experience in Power BI dashboard development, reporting, and custom visualizations.
• Experience with Power BI Service and reporting environment configuration.
• Experience performing robust student loan data validation, including forbearance data.
• Strong experience with Azure SQL Server and multiple data sources.
• Strong technical documentation and report development skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communication with senior-level leadership.
• Versatile presentation skills, including formal and informal presentations.
• Ability to conduct technical training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
