The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a premier national engineering firm for experienced overhead transmission engineering leaders, with six full-time, direct-hire openings available. The client delivers high-voltage transmission programs for utility clients, and this senior role centers on structural design: about 90% of the work involves foundations, framing, and materials. Soaring electricity demand from data centers and electric vehicles has put the power transmission sector in a sustained growth cycle. That gives the client a deep, multi-year project pipeline and gives successful candidates a long runway for career advancement.

The position is anchored in Houston, TX, with a partially remote arrangement. The client also welcomes candidates based in Oregon, California, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan, North Carolina, or Florida, or close to another of its large U.S. engineering hubs.

What You’ll Do

  • Spearhead engineering delivery across large-scale transmission programs and portfolios with multiple concurrent projects.
  • Author and scrutinize sophisticated engineering calculations and deliverables.
  • Steward budgets, schedules, and quality standards across every engineering discipline involved.
  • Develop engineering teams through mentorship, including hands-on PLS-CADD instruction.
  • Own technical leadership and act as engineer of responsible charge on assigned projects.
  • Partner directly with utility clients and strengthen pursuit and business development initiatives.

What You Bring

  • 8–12+ years in Overhead Transmission Line Design, including lines rated 69kV and above (required)
  • Hands-on PLS-CADD proficiency (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; other engineering disciplines considered
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
  • Design expertise across Composite, Laminate, Wood, and Steel Structures
  • Strongly preferred: work on 500kV+ transmission projects
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Preferred: deep command of Line Routing, Structural Loading, and Foundation Design
  • Preferred: project history with U.S. investor-owned utilities
  • Preferred: EPC and/or utility services background
  • Preferred: track record working alongside construction, land, permitting, and procurement teams
  • Preferred: Proposal Development support and Engineering Cost Estimating skills
  • A plus: Lattice Tower design exposure

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Annual base salary of $130,000–$200,000
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Full benefits package
  • Paid relocation
  • Partially remote work arrangement
