Summary

Job Title: Structural Design Engineer (Industrial & Advanced Facilities)

Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Structural Design Engineer to join our team specializing in high-tech, advanced industrial infrastructure. In this role, you will be an integral member of the design team, assisting in the performance of structural analysis and design for complex, large-scale projects. This is a progressive role designed for an EIT who is building a solid foundation in structural fundamentals and is eager to learn how structural design integrates with complex mechanical, electrical, and process systems. You will be given significant responsibility to own your scope while receiving mentorship from senior engineering leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Analysis & Design
Technical Execution: Under general supervision, perform conventional structural analysis and design for traditional steel and concrete structures.
Code Application: Develop proficiency in applying US building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC, with a specific focus on lateral analysis (wind and seismic).
Technical Judgment: Evaluate and adapt engineering techniques and procedures under the guidance of senior staff to meet specific project requirements.

Project Ownership & Coordination
Scope Ownership: Take full responsibility for your assigned portion of the structural scope, ensuring work is accurate, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule.
Initiative: Proactively determine requirements for tasks with evolving conditions and begin developing the ability to forecast level of effort for upcoming workstreams.
Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work closely with Structural Designers and other disciplines to ensure structural requirements are accurately reflected in 2D design documents and 3D models.

Field Engagement & Quality Control
Field Inspections: Conduct field walks to evaluate existing conditions or verify installations; this may include climbing ladders or accessing specialized industrial floor environments.
Rigorous QA/QC: Maintain a high level of attention to detail by self-checking calculations and performing peer-reviews of calculations for other engineers.
Professional Growth: Identify and escalate scope changes to the Structural Lead promptly and seek guidance from senior engineers to broaden your technical knowledge.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Engineering emphasis). A Master's degree (MS) is preferred.
Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
Experience: * Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
oHands-on experience with US building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC).
Technical Skills: Preferred experience with analysis software (e.g., STAAD), as well as coordination tools like Navisworks and Bluebeam.
Physical Ability: Able to perform field walks, stand for extended periods, and navigate industrial job sites (including ladders or confined spaces as needed).
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
