Job Title: Enterprise Architect (EA) Consultant
Focus: EA Operations & EA Office Stand-Up
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)
This is a hybrid position. The resource will work remotely and will be required to come onsite for three (3) consecutive days Tuesday through Thursday every three (3) weeks. The onsite week will be confirmed by the Task Manager at start.

Role Overview
A large public-sector organization is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect (EA) Consultant to lead both tactical enterprise architecture execution and the design and stand-up of a centralized Enterprise Architecture Office (EAO).
This role will operate within a unified Strategy & Governance function and will be tightly integrated with Project Management Office (PMO) and Business Relationship Management (BRM) teams. The consultant will establish EA shared services, enable AI-driven governance and data architecture capabilities, and co-own automation and AI enablement efforts that support project managers and shared services specialists at scale.

A. Tactical Enterprise Architecture ( 50%)

Standards & Patterns
Curate and maintain cloud, data, integration, security, and AI/ML architecture patterns (e.g., cloud reference implementations, data mesh vs. warehouse approaches)
Architecture Governance
Chair or coordinate the Architecture Review Board (ARB)
Manage exceptions, waivers, and technical debt logs
Roadmapping
Risk, Compliance & Security
Vendor, Tool & Software Evaluation
System Integration & Asset Management
Change & Lifecycle Governance
Participate in Change Management Review Boards
Govern technology acquisition, cybersecurity review, procurement alignment, and end-of-life (EOL) management

Develop and maintain architectural models, transition plans, business cases, and investment justifications
B. EA Office Design, Stand-Up & Integration ( 50%)

Standardize request forms, prioritization models, and routing workflows

Establish data architecture guardrails, metadata management, lineage, and MDM frameworks
Define AI use-case registry, risk controls, model governance, and prompt libraries
Value Analytics
Enable intelligent resource optimization, variance analysis, forecasting models, and linkage of portfolio financials to business outcomes
B2. Process Automation & AI Enablement (with PMO)
Automate PMO stage gates, RAID logs, status reporting, and deliverable reviews
Implement AI copilots for project managers (agenda drafting, summarization, action extraction)
Build low-code applications for request triage, architecture scheduling, and financial reconciliation
Integrate portfolio, architecture, and financial data into unified Strategy & Governance dashboards
B3. Stakeholder Management & Communication
Act as a single point of engagement for business units
Simplify escalation and engagement pathways
Provide executive-level reporting on architecture health, delivery risk, and transformation value

Mandatory Requirements
Experience
Bachelor s degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences
15+ years of experience across IT infrastructure, data management, and enterprise systems
Extensive experience in enterprise data architecture, migrations, and governance
Proven success designing enterprise governance models spanning procurement, cybersecurity, AI, and project delivery
Demonstrated experience implementing AI and automation within IT governance and operational processes
Strong executive-level communication and facilitation skills
