Mechanical Engineer Co-Op

As a Mechanical Engineer Co-op, you will work with a team to provide mechanical engineering designs for large-scale capital projects and support multiple sites and projects concurrently; you will collaborate closely with other Mechanical Engineers and project team members at a local level to help deliver safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations; this is a hands-on learning opportunity where you apply your academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges in a dynamic, diverse environment.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

• Prepare project mechanical specifications and summaries for design packages;
• Review equipment vendor drawings and support construction activities at manufacturing sites;
• Support engineers in the development of mechanical equipment specifications and construction drawings;
• Contribute to the development of equipment checkout plans and support project checkout and startup at manufacturing sites;
• Apply basic project management skills to help coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables;
• Collaborate with other Mechanical Engineers and project team members to solve problems and implement practical engineering solutions.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering;
• Must have completed at least 1 year of a Bachelor's program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale;
• General mechanical aptitude and interest in applying engineering principles to real-world projects;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Good problem-solving skills and a high degree of personal initiative;
• Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks;
• Ability to work well in a team environment and within a diverse culture;
• No travel limitations.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $26.00 to $31.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
