Summary

Position: Senior Data Scientist

Work Location: 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089

Duties: Take end-to-end responsibility for researching, collecting, and organizing large scale datasets, and using them to improve the search item results. Build and deploy advanced machine learning models to predict or estimate key signals that are used to improve search relevance and ranking. Research, design, and implement cutting-edge deep learning models based on BERT or T5 architectures to predict and optimize relevant search query terms for products. Refactor and deploy Python offline scripts to crawl search APIs to extract metadata for millions of search traffic data. Evaluate the performance of the deep learning models using metrics such as F1, precision, recall, and search relevance metrics to optimize the model performance via hyperparameter tuning. Conduct large scale statistical online A/B tests to evaluate the performance of machine learning models in terms of business revenue metrics which serve hundreds of millions of impressions per day. Set up and maintain complex data pipelines based on Hadoop and distributed systems to monitor and refresh the model predictions on a daily basis.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience training bi-directional neural networks to execute multi-class classification for Natural Language Processing. Experience designing loss function for deep learning models, including optimizing micro-F1 score for multi-class classification and NDCG score for ranking. Experience with data analysis including dimensionality reduction, linear regression, clustering, and data visualization methods in Python with Pandas, Scikit-learn, and Matplotlib. Experience implementing, training, and deploying statistical and deep learning models on high dimensional and sparse data for multi-class classification. Experience with data analysis and processing techniques in high performance cloud platforms using Python, Pyspark, and Scala. Experience with statistical hypothesis testing, including paired, unpaired t-tests, and stratified sampling. Experience with software engineering practices including version control with Git, CI/CD, and unit testing. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $144,075/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
