Overview:
Our client's Infrastructure Automation team is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to support the maintenance, enhancement, and day-to-day operation of enterprise monitoring solutions. This contracted role centers on improving monitoring coverage, building automation to streamline operational tasks, and supporting hybrid environment integrations across our client's global technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the administration and configuration of SCOM management groups, agents, gateways, and management packs.
- Assist in building and tuning custom rules, monitors, alerts, discoveries, and dashboards.
- Monitor SCOM health, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure consistent performance across environments.
- Participate in routine SCOM maintenance, updates, and best-practice adherence.
- Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and Python to automate monitoring tasks and improve efficiency.
- Assist in integrating SCOM with internal tools and external systems via API-based workflows.
- Support monitoring-as-code and infrastructure-as-code practices within the team.
- Write basic to intermediate SQL queries for reporting, data validation, and troubleshooting.
- Support dashboard creation and reporting needs using SQL-driven insights.
- Assist in analyzing monitoring data to identify issues, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Work with infrastructure, application, cloud, and DevOps teams to onboard new services into SCOM.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and standardized operating procedures.
- Participate in incident response efforts by supplying monitoring insights and performing follow-up analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCOM, including management packs, monitoring configuration, and troubleshooting.
Intermediate proficiency in PowerShell and Python scripting for automation.
Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and automation workflows.
Working knowledge of SQL for data queries and monitoring insights.
Experience supporting system monitoring in enterprise or large-scale environments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skill
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to cloud monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, etc.).
Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools (Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible).
Certifications such as Microsoft Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate, or AWS Cloud Practitioner.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
