Title: Fiber Optic Test Technician
Location: On-site at Austin, TX
Duration: 6 Months

Description:
Day to Day Responsibilities
Assist in performing set up and performance verification of fiber optic testing system
Configure product samples for environmental and mechanical testing
Perform optical measurements using manual or automated test systems
Program and operate environmental chambers and test equipmenSet upetup/perform and track/report progress of testing as directed
Document test results from optical fiber component testing as per documented procedures
Conduct basic data analysis
Draft test reports in the proper format and filed accordingly
Assist in conducting failure mode analysis
Perform basic troubleshooting/problem solving
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
Primary Role:
A laboratory technician supporting fiber optic component testing in a hardware-focused lab environment.
Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis: Over time, support failure mode analysis and help with basic troubleshooting of fiber optic components.
Optical Measurements: Learn (or apply existing knowledge of) optical measurement techniques using both manual and automated test systems.
Testing Responsibilities: Assist with environmental and mechanical testing using walk in chambers and mechanical test systems.
Programming Equipment: Operate and program environmental chambers for various test cycles.
Test Setup & Reporting: Independently set up tests after training, report progress, document results, and maintain accurate records.
Basic Data Analysis: Perform basic data analysis using Microsoft Excel (must-have skill), along with Word and PowerPoint for documentation.
Workplace Standards: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace; attention to detail and good eyesight are essential due to small components.
Required Skills
Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
At least 1-2 years of experience in laboratory environment or precision manufacturing.
Ability to complete assignments accuratelyonnd at a pre-defined scheduDetail-orientedented
Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
Written/verbal communication skills
Hands-on technical skills using test and measuring equipment
Desired Skills
Highly motivated and work as a "self-starter"
Willingness to learn
Education/Experience
Minimum of High School diploma, Associates preferred, Bachelor's in engineering may be considered overqualified.
Preference for telecom, fiber optic or hardware testing experience.
Acceptable backgrounds include data center technicians, semiconductor lab technicians, and hardware testers.

- Must the have ability to handle very small, delicate parts.
- Must be a quick learner and have confidence in their ability
