Summary

Role: Network Engineer

Duration: 3 Months

Work location: New York, NY

Responsibilities:
  • Reports to the EITS Unified Communications Jacobi Assistant Director and provides support, optimization, administration, and technical documentation for enterprise and hospital network systems.
  • Oversees daily support and administration of RightFax and other enterprise network technologies across multiple healthcare facilities.
  • Performs root cause analysis to diagnose and resolve network system failures, faults, and performance issues.
  • Manages large-scale IT and network projects impacting multiple hospitals, clinics, and enterprise systems to ensure availability of mission-critical services.
  • Troubleshoots complex routing and switching issues while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Designs, implements, and administers enterprise data and VoIP networks, including Cisco infrastructure and telecommunication systems.
  • Designs, implements, and manages RightFax enterprise architecture and related messaging technologies.
  • Supports mobile carrier and radio carrier systems used within the organization.
  • Leads research, evaluation, selection, and integration of new networking technologies to support organizational goals.
  • Diagnoses and resolves incidents related to RightFax, mobile devices, Cisco VoIP, and PBX network components.
  • Oversees Distributed Antenna System (DAS) technology across all organizational locations.
  • Maintains telecommunication equipment, circuits, and enterprise phone systems.
  • Configures and installs Cisco IP Phones on various versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
  • Performs move, add, and change (MAC) activities on Cisco Unity Connection systems.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots Cisco VG224 Analog Gateways.
  • Provides advanced support for Cisco routers, switches (Nexus), routing/switching configuration, and network security.
  • Coordinates with telecom carriers during network implementations, upgrades, and service outages.
  • Manages voice networks, Wi-Fi gateways, and wireless controllers, including setup and maintenance.
  • Follows organizational change management and release management procedures, including naming standards and operational policies.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and implements best practices to improve network infrastructure and services.
  • Leads network project implementations and integrates Cisco and third-party networking technologies.
  • Performs network trend analysis to resolve chronic issues and remediate escalated network incidents.
  • Analyzes converged network traffic and prepares reports for management.
  • Drives improvements in network processes, operational efficiency, and standardization across systems.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to junior network engineers and support staff.

Requirements:
  • Designs, implements, optimizes, administers, and documents enterprise network systems with minimal supervision.
  • Oversees daily operations of network systems support functions and personnel while ensuring availability of mission-critical IT services.
  • Engineers solutions for complex network problems through in-depth analysis, proactive monitoring, and root cause analysis.
  • Manages major IT and network infrastructure projects impacting multiple departments and organizational branches.
  • Plans, designs, configures, installs, tests, integrates, maintains, and supports enterprise-level network infrastructure.
  • Provides technical oversight for enterprise networking technologies including LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, ACLs, NAT, SNMP, QoS, TACACS, and RADIUS.
  • Supports enterprise network hardware and security infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and other network devices.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains IP telephony and VoIP systems, including voice gateways, call control systems, IP phones, and auto-attendant systems.
  • Administers and optimizes network monitoring and management tools to ensure network performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Installs and configures network devices according to organizational standards and policies.
  • Designs and implements disaster recovery strategies and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and vendors to implement network infrastructure enhancements supporting organizational initiatives.
  • Resolves incident and service request tickets and provides advanced troubleshooting support.
  • Ensures compliance with federal regulations and audit requirements related to network systems.
  • Leads small-scale network projects and provides mentorship and training to junior network engineers.
  • Requires CCNP or equivalent certification, a bachelor's degree in a related field, and 5+ years of progressive experience in network systems and telecommunications environments.
