Job#: 3023828 Job Description: Fully remoteDescription:The Outside Plant Engineer position is responsible for designing additions, upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the Outside Plant electronics telephony network which includes all structures (such as poles and conduit systems), cable (copper & fiber) and associated equipment for aerial, underground, buried, and customer premise equipment.
- The Engineer will coordinate with a variety of client departments and also have direct customer contact with builders, building managers, property owners, and residential and business end users.
- The Engineer needs the ability to work in a diverse environment of business and residential topologies, and must be able to solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
- The Engineer must be able to price out solutions and select the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
- The Engineer has the authority, up to a set dollar limit, to choose and implement solutions independently.
- The ability to work in a team is critical.
- Engineer will be working on Local Law 97 switch decommission work as it relates to any OSP electronics equipment that is connected to the TDM switch which is being retired.
Required Skills/Experience: 1.Bachelor degree in Engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
2.Proficient computer skills (windows-based programs and corporate database systems).
3.Superior analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
4.Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
5.Solid written and oral communications skills are necessary.
Desired Skills/Experience: (valuable, but not required to obtain the position) 1.Prior working experience and basic knowledge of telecom Outside Plant Engineering Practices and systems such as Telcordia systems LFACs, Switch, LEIS and Tirks.
2.Experience with the CAD programs as well as high proficiency with MS Excel and/or MS Access."
