About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join an Advanced Analytics team supporting the development and enhancement of AML transaction monitoring solutions. The successful candidate will work with large-scale datasets, perform advanced data analysis, support customer segmentation and transaction-monitoring scenarios, and provide data-driven insights to business and technical stakeholders.
  • This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact project focused on building transaction monitoring capabilities using Oracle within a leading financial services organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct analytical activities supporting AML transaction monitoring systems and related analytical initiatives.
  • Independently analyze, design, and support technical data management solutions across projects of varying complexity.
  • Perform data quality checks and validation on raw and curated datasets across Oracle and related data platforms.
  • Conduct customer segmentation, scenario analysis, and initial threshold setting activities.
  • Support scenario and model performance monitoring, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Execute quality-control procedures across end-to-end monitoring solutions and identify data or process gaps.
  • Support future-state implementation and enhancement activities for transaction monitoring solutions.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify opportunities for improvement and support data-driven business strategies.
  • Maintain structured documentation to support audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate analytical findings and complex data issues clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
 Must-Have Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Strong experience with large-scale data exploration, analysis, and manipulation.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL query optimization, debugging, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques and data mining methods.
  • Experience working on data-driven/data-centric projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle or similar enterprise data platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
 Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience in AML, Financial Crime, Transaction Monitoring, or Risk Analytics.
  • Experience with SAS.
  • Experience with Informatica.
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization/analytics tools.
  • Financial services or banking industry experience.
  • Experience with customer segmentation and transaction-monitoring scenarios.
  • Experience with threshold setting/tuning and scenario performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to AML monitoring.
 Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
  • Comfortable explaining complex analytical and data-related issues to stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
 Interview Process
  • One round – In-person panel interview in Markham, including technical testing.
  • Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week, 2 days remote)
