UX Motion Designer
Work Model
Hybrid role requiring on-site presence three days per week in either Seattle, NYC or the Bay area.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced UX Motion & Visual Designer to help shape immersive, next-generation AR/VR experiences. In this role, you will craft high-quality motion and visual design that enhances usability, clarity, and emotional impact across spatial interfaces. You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and researchers to bring complex ideas to life and set a high bar for interaction and visual storytelling in emerging platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design and prototype motion graphics, transitions, and micro-interactions for AR/VR user interfaces
Create and evolve visual systems and motion languages that improve clarity, usability, and consistency across products
Partner with product designers, engineers, and researchers to define and implement motion and visual design best practices
Translate complex technical and interaction concepts into intuitive, accessible, and delightful user experiences
Present design concepts, prototypes, and rationale clearly to cross-functional partners and stakeholders
Stay current with trends and advancements in motion design, AR/VR, spatial computing, and visual storytelling
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Design, Animation, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of professional experience in motion design, visual design, UX/UI, or related disciplines for digital products
Strong portfolio demonstrating motion graphics, UI animation, and visual design work
Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as After Effects, Figma, Principle, Lottie, or similar
Experience collaborating closely with engineers in multidisciplinary product teams
Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing for AR/VR, wearables, or spatial computing platforms
Familiarity with real-time 3D tools or engines such as Unity or Unreal
Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly iterative product development environment
Bonus experience with 3D workflows, wearable products, or AI/ML-driven experiences

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105.00 - $110.00/hr.
