Position Overview

Our client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer with strong Playwright expertise to join a large enterprise QA team supporting a long-standing client engagement. This individual will help design, develop, maintain, and optimize automated testing solutions while ensuring application quality across a complex enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in both manual and automated testing, understands how to build reliable and maintainable automation frameworks, and demonstrates a genuine passion for quality assurance. This role requires someone who can think critically, identify edge cases, challenge assumptions, and continuously improve testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation Development

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright.
• Create reliable, scalable, and maintainable automation solutions.
• Execute automated testing against developer pull requests to provide rapid feedback.
• Continuously improve automation coverage and test reliability.

Quality Engineering & Testing

• Perform both manual and automated testing activities.
• Develop comprehensive test cases covering positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios.
• Validate application functionality and identify defects early in the development lifecycle.
• Participate in root cause analysis for identified issues.

API Testing

• Validate APIs using Postman and similar testing tools.
• Develop and execute API test scenarios.
• Verify request/response structures, error handling, and data integrity.

Framework Optimization

• Analyze existing automation frameworks and identify improvement opportunities.
• Improve execution speed, stability, and maintainability.
• Contribute ideas for modernizing testing practices and tools.
• Help drive automation architecture decisions.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with developers, business analysts, and fellow QA engineers.
• Participate in test planning, defect reviews, and quality discussions.
• Support code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Collaborate with a team of 13 QA professionals supporting a large enterprise account.

Continuous Improvement

• Research and recommend new testing approaches and technologies.
• Promote QA best practices across projects.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation.
• Maintain a mindset of ongoing process and framework improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, including both manual and automated testing.
• 2–3 years of recent hands-on experience using Playwright.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
• Strong manual testing skills and ability to create comprehensive test cases.
• Experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to identify edge cases and complex test scenarios.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain testing approaches, methodologies, and decision-making processes.
• Passion for quality engineering and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating automation frameworks from Selenium to Playwright.
• Experience optimizing automation execution times and framework performance.
• Hands-on involvement in automation architecture and framework design.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
• Experience reviewing and improving CI/CD testing pipelines.
• Knowledge of test data management strategies.
• Experience working with pull request validation workflows.
• Experience mentoring junior QA engineers.
• Familiarity with enterprise-level QA governance and standards.
