Job Summary

The Frac Completions Engineer Trainee (EIT) is a structured, time-bound development role designed to prepare entry-level engineers for progression into a Remote Completions Engineering position within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a working understanding of hydraulic fracturing operations, including equipment function, job flow, stage execution, and field-to-ROC communication
  • Participate in field shadowing to understand wellsite operations, safety practices, and crew workflows
  • Gain exposure to fluid systems, lab testing procedures, and material performance to understand their impact on job execution, treatment quality, and remote monitoring
  • Support real-time frac monitoring by tracking stage progression, treatment data, pump schedules, material usage, and operational timelines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Use engineering dashboards and reports to monitor pressure/rate trends, chemical performance, stage timing, and operational exceptions; clearly communicate and escalate deviations in a timely manner
  • Support Remote Completions Engineering operations by contributing to pre-job readiness, live job communication, shift handoffs, and disciplined issue escalation within the ROC environment
  • Own the accuracy and integrity of operational data by validating treatment inputs, material tracking, well information, and customer-specific documentation used by ROC and field leadership
  • Support post-job reporting and debrief preparation by organizing data, validating stage summaries, and documenting operational learnings for internal and customer-facing review
  • Develop strong digital engineering habits, including structured data management, accurate system inputs, effective use of dashboards and reporting tools, and consistent documentation practices that support scalable analytics and future automation
  • Develop proficiency in digital workflows and remote monitoring systems, demonstrating progression in data ownership, operational awareness, and decision-support capability required for transition into a Remote Completions Engineering role
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline preferred.
  • Willing to learn both field-based and remote hydraulic fracturing operations, including time around active wellsite operations before progressing into ROC-based responsibilities.
  • Able to maintain an organized digital workspace, accurate record keeping, consistent file naming, and disciplined documentation practices.
  • Must be a critical thinker who can learn new technical systems, ask good questions, identify issues, and support proactive and reactive problem solving.
  • Willing to be assertive and speak up about unsafe work practices.
