Senior Project Manager – Mechanical Construction

Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $110,000–$150,000 (bonus & relocation)
Innovar Group is supporting a Senior Project Manager – Mechanical Construction opportunity with a leading construction organization supporting large-scale mission-critical and industrial projects. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical construction leader who can successfully manage complex projects from preconstruction through closeout while driving safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction.
Experience supporting hyperscale data center, mission-critical, industrial, or other highly technical construction projects is strongly preferred.
The Senior Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project execution, including project administration, financial performance, procurement, subcontractor management, staffing, scheduling, client relationships, and project delivery. This position offers the opportunity to lead high-profile projects while helping develop teams and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations for assigned mechanical construction projects.
- Oversee project teams, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, forecasting, cost control, and overall financial performance.
- Conduct project turnover, preconstruction, and coordination meetings.
- Ensure permits, licenses, contracts, submittals, and project documentation are completed and maintained.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment to support project schedules and budget objectives.
- Negotiate, prepare, and manage subcontract agreements.
- Develop and manage billing schedules, progress billings, retention, and collections.
- Price, negotiate, and process change orders and scope modifications.
- Monitor labor planning, productivity, staffing requirements, and resource allocation.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices.
- Lead project staff meetings and mentor project managers, engineers, and field teams.
- Coordinate with fabrication, VDC/BIM, operations, and production teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management or related construction leadership roles.
- Strong experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center projects.
- Proven success managing project budgets, schedules, forecasting, procurement, subcontractors, and overall financial performance.
- Experience leading project teams and mentoring project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, change management, billing, forecasting, and project controls.
- Experience with construction technology platforms, ERP systems, Bluebeam, and project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining strong attention to detail and accountability.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor''s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hyperscale data center or mission-critical construction experience.
- Mechanical contracting experience involving HVAC, piping, plumbing, process piping, central utility plants, or fabrication.
- Experience supporting large-scale MEP scopes exceeding $25M+.
- Design-build or integrated project delivery experience.
- Experience collaborating with VDC/BIM and fabrication teams.
- Experience managing multi-phase campus or large industrial construction projects.
