Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Senior Software Developer (Java/Python) for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in Dallas, TX . This is a hybrid role based in Dallas. Onsite expectations may vary based on current office capacity and business needs.

Position Overview

This role supports a Mortgage Capital Markets (MCM) technology team responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise applications that process and distribute data across multiple upstream and downstream systems.

The team is seeking a senior, hands-on developer with 10+ years of solid software engineering experience who can work independently, take ownership of complex technical deliverables, and effectively collaborate with technology and business stakeholders.

The primary focus is backend application development, APIs, enterprise integrations, data processing, and application modernization. While some front-end development may occasionally be required, this is fundamentally a backend-focused engineering role .

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, deploy, enhance, and maintain large-scale enterprise applications and integration services
  • Build and support backend systems, APIs, and data-processing solutions supporting Mortgage Capital Markets initiatives
  • Develop and maintain integrations across multiple upstream and downstream enterprise platforms
  • Take ownership of complex development assignments from design through implementation and production support
  • Contribute to cloud-native application development using modern architectures, microservices, and containerized environments
  • Analyze and resolve complex application, integration, and production issues
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database integrations
  • Participate in application deployments, release management, and CI/CD processes
  • Work with messaging, monitoring, observability, scheduling, and automation technologies
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and technology leadership to define and implement technical solutions
  • Participate in Agile development activities, code reviews, technical design discussions, and solution architecture
  • Support test automation, monitoring, reliability, scalability, and application performance initiatives
  • Mentor or provide technical guidance to other developers when appropriate
  • Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, and JavaScript when required

Required Skills
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience , including significant experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large-scale enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior, hands-on developer , independently owning complex technical deliverables
  • Strong hands-on development experience with Java and/or Python
  • Strong backend application development and enterprise integration experience
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs, Web Services, and enterprise integrations
  • Strong experience working with relational databases and data technologies such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing, reading, debugging, and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Experience with data and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms
  • 3+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments
  • Experience with CI/CD and build automation tools such as Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, or similar technologies
  • Experience with test automation, monitoring, application reliability, and production support
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex application and integration issues in enterprise production environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative development team

Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting Mortgage Capital Markets, Capital Markets, Banking, or Financial Services applications
  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot
  • Experience with job scheduling and orchestration tools such as CRON, Tidal, Autosys, or Airflow
  • Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or similar tools
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka and IBM MQ
  • Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience supporting highly available enterprise production applications
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular, React, and JavaScript
