Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Platform Engineer with a strong focus on application monitoring and observability to support and enhance enterprise monitoring platforms. This role plays a key part in ensuring application performance, reliability, and visibility across complex environments by implementing effective monitoring, dashboards, and alerting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with application performance monitoring tools (especially AppDynamics), enjoys collaborating with application and infrastructure teams, and is comfortable troubleshooting performance issues using telemetry and monitoring data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain application performance monitoring usingAppDynamics, including instrumentation, transaction tracing, and performance analysis
  • Configure and support real user monitoring (RUM), synthetic monitoring, and database monitoring to improve application visibility
  • Support integrations with visualization or event management tools such as BigPanda or Grafana.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations to provide clear insights into application health and performance
  • Assist with alert configuration and tuning to reduce noise and improve incident response
  • Support automated deployment and configuration of monitoring agents through CI/CD pipelines
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, and operations teams to gather monitoring requirements and deliver scalable solutions
  • Participate in incident investigation and troubleshooting using monitoring and telemetry data
  • Help document and follow monitoring standards, best practices, and operational procedures
  • Support monitoring and observability solutions across cloud and on-prem environments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-6+ years of experience in platform engineering, monitoring, observability, or related roles
  • Hands-on experience with AppDynamics for application performance monitoring
  • Working knowledge of real user monitoring, synthetic monitoring, and database monitoring concepts
  • Experience supporting monitoring platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments
  • Familiarity with alerting strategies and alert noise reduction principles
  • Working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, or similar)
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, APIs, or infrastructure automation tools)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event or incident management platforms
  • Experience managing monitoring agent deployments or upgrades at scale
  • Awareness of cloud and platform security best practices
  • Interest in or pursuit of cloud or observability certifications
  • Experience working with distributed or globally aligned engineering teams

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
