Role Purpose

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise databases to support data governance, archival, retention, and deletion initiatives. The role involves ensuring database readiness for BigID onboarding, maintaining data integrity, implementing lifecycle management processes, and supporting the execution of archival and deletion activities in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

 

Experience Required: 5–8 Years

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Assess and prepare database environments for BigID onboarding and policy execution.

·       Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

·       Analyze database dependencies and identify risks related to data archival, deletion, referential integrity, downstream applications, and regulatory compliance.

·       Design, develop, and support SQL scripts, stored procedures, database jobs, and automation processes for archival and deletion activities.

·       Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.

·       Collaborate with data governance, application, and infrastructure teams to support data lifecycle management initiatives.

·       Support integration between BigID and various data platforms, including relational databases, data lakes, and file systems.

·       Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize system efficiency.

·       Conduct validation testing, troubleshoot database-related issues, and support remediation activities.

·       Ensure compliance with data retention, privacy, security, and healthcare industry regulations.

Required Skills & Experience

·       Strong expertise in database administration, SQL development, and performance tuning.

·       Hands-on experience with enterprise databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar platforms.

·       Experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, triggers, SQL scripts, and scheduled database jobs.

·       Knowledge of data archival, retention, purge processes, and database lifecycle management.

·       Understanding of referential integrity, database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery concepts.

·       Experience supporting healthcare data systems and compliance requirements.

·       Experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, and related data services.

·       Familiarity with data governance and privacy tools such as BigID is preferred.

·       Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

·       Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
