About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced
Fire Alarm Installation Technician to support commercial installation projects across the region. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing and configuring industry-leading fire alarm systems-including
SimplexGrinnell, Fire-Lite, and Notifier-and is comfortable working in active construction and retrofit environments.
This role involves installing fire alarm panels, devices, cabling, and system components while ensuring compliance with NFPA codes, local fire regulations, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Install and wire commercial fire alarm panels, including:
- SimplexGrinnell
- Fire-Lite Alarms
- Notifier by Honeywell
- Install, mount, and test fire alarm devices such as:
- Smoke detectors
- Heat detectors
- Pull stations
- Horn/strobes
- Modules
- Run and route cabling according to project plans and code requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and device/program verification.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, building codes, and job site safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with , project managers, inspectors, and customers.
- Document installation progress and complete required paperwork and test forms.
- Work both individually and within a field team on large commercial projects.
Qualifications- 1-3+ years of commercial fire alarm installation experience.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SimplexGrinnell fire alarm systems
- Fire-Lite alarm panels
- Notifier systems
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical work and device installation.
- Ability to work in new construction, remodel, and retrofit environments.
- Experience reading and following construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Basic understanding of fire alarm programming (advanced programming is a plus).
- Must be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills- NICET Level I or II certification (strong plus)
- Experience with additional Honeywell fire systems
- Ability to independently diagnose wiring, ground faults, and device issues
- Strong troubleshooting and testing skills
Work Environment & Expectations- Commercial job sites (new builds, renovations, occupied facilities)
- Ability to work on lifts, ladders, and in above-ceiling spaces
- Willingness to work some overtime or off-hours when required
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
