As a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, we help improve the performance of buildings to serve people, places, and the planet. At Johnson Controls, you will join a collaborative team with opportunities to grow through meaningful work, learning, and hands-on project experience.

Role Overview

As a Fire Project Manager, you will lead complex fire alarm, security, and communications installation projects across commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and military environments. You will be responsible for planning and executing projects that are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quality, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead fire alarm, security, and communications installation projects from initiation through closeout.

  • Set up local project offices and coordinate scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, and resource allocation.

  • Manage project schedules, costs, safety, quality, and customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate the flow of work from design and permitting through material delivery, labor scheduling, and field installation.

  • Facilitate project reviews, including Work in Progress meetings, status updates, and resolution of project issues.

  • Support change order processing and work to improve project margin on each assignment.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with company standards and customer requirements.

How You Will Do It

  • Own project outcomes with accountability, safety, and integrity while keeping customer commitments front and center.

  • Stay close to the work by coordinating design, permits, delivery, labor, and installation details so obstacles are identified and removed early.

  • Use a disciplined project plan to track schedule, budget, quality, and risk, and communicate progress clearly to internal teams and customers.

  • Improve every day by following published codes, standards, unique specifications, and AHJ requirements with candor and practical problem-solving.

  • Win as one team by working across field, office, and customer stakeholders to resolve issues, manage change orders, and deliver strong project results.

  • Follow departmental and SOX procedures, and maintain accurate project documentation from start to finish.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 years of installation experience in Fire, Electrical, or Security systems.

  • Project Management Professional certification to be obtained within two years of employment.

  • NICET Level II to be obtained within one year of employment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and Project.

  • Ability to create Excel spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets, and create macros.

  • Availability for frequent local travel.

Nice to Have

  • Certificate or diploma in Fire & Life Safety, Electrical/Electronic, or Security.

  • Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
