Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Data Center Technician with strong hands-on experience in structured cabling and rack-and-stack operations within enterprise or colocation data center environments. The ideal candidate will work independently on complex deployments, ensure adherence to data center standards, and support infrastructure installs, upgrades, and migrations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rack and stack of servers, switches, routers, and related hardware
- Install, route, terminate, label, and test copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling
- Follow and enforce industry-standard cable management, labeling, and documentation practices
- Execute moves, adds, changes (MACs), new deployments, and decommissioning activities
- Troubleshoot Layer 1 and basic Layer 2 connectivity issues (faulty cables, ports, optics)
- Read, interpret, and execute work based on rack elevations, network diagrams, MOPs, and SOPs
- Coordinate with network, systems, and facilities teams during installations and maintenance
- Serve as a technical resource or point of escalation for less-experienced technicians
- Maintain accurate documentation of rack layouts, cable runs, and port mappings
- Adhere to all safety, security, and ESD protocols
Required Qualifications- 4-7+ years of experience working in data center environments
- Strong, hands-on experience with:
- Rack and stack of servers and network equipment
- Structured cabling (installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting)
- Copper and fiber cabling in high-density environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working from:
- Rack elevation diagrams
- Network and cabling diagrams
- Standard operating procedures and method of procedures
- Proficient with data center tools (crimpers, punch-down tools, fiber tools, cable testers)
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and standards
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in enterprise, colocation, or hyperscale data centers
- Prior experience as a lead technician or deployment lead
- Strong understanding of:
- Cable management best practices
- Single-mode and multimode fiber
- Common fiber connectors (LC, SC)
- Basic networking knowledge (ports, patching, VLAN awareness)
- Industry certifications such as:
- BICSI (Installer or Technician)
- CompTIA Network+
- Manufacturer-specific training (Cisco, Juniper, etc.)

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $68.35/hr.
