Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for designing tailored automation solutions that meet specific client requirements using the Microsoft Power Platform and related technologies. In addition to delivering advanced technical work, this role mentors junior engineers, guiding them on automation best practices, solution design, and problem-solving techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design tailored automation solutions to address specific client requests using automation technologies.
  • Anticipate issues proactively and analyze ways to mitigate risks.
  • Clearly articulate business value and the impact of technical and non-technical information; escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Provide effective production support, including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation, and communication with customers/vendors.
  • Document small- to medium-scale projects and deliver presentations with minimal supervision.
  • Break down complex situations and refocus on critical technical tasks.
  • Coach engineers on automation best practices and lead teams through tactical problem-solving.

Power Platform & AI Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and manage custom business applications using Power Apps (Canvas & Model-Driven).
  • Create and optimize business process automations using Power Automate.
  • Build data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain AI-powered chatbots and virtual agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
  • Use Copilot Studio to build conversational experiences integrated with back-end systems (Dataverse, Azure services, APIs, legacy systems).
  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Dynamics 365, and other enterprise services.
  • Stay current on Power Platform advancements, Microsoft AI capabilities, and roadmap updates.


Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of technical experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • High degree of technical expertise with the ability to recommend process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Copilot Studio (topics, entities, trigger phrases, external data/API integrations).
  • Experience with Dataverse, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Azure Logic Apps/Azure Functions.
  • Familiarity with Power Fx, low-code expressions, and custom connectors.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (JavaScript, PowerShell, C#) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in agile and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with AI Builder, Copilot integrations, or Azure OpenAI services is a strong plus.
  • Experience with UX/UI design for applications and chatbot experiences.
  • Understanding of ALM and DevOps practices for Power Platform.

Preferred Certifications
  • PL-100: Power Platform App Maker
  • (Additional Microsoft certifications may be listed as applicable.)
