Job Summary

We are seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Communications Systems Engineer to support the architecture, design, development, integration, and testing of advanced RF communication systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with radios, antennas, RF subsystems, and electromagnetic simulation tools to develop high-performance communication solutions for complex aerospace, defense, or commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and analyze RF systems and circuitry for high-frequency and microwave applications.

Develop RF hardware including receivers, transmitters, antennas, frequency synthesizers, amplifiers, and RF conversion equipment.

Perform hardware layout, component selection, prototype development, integration, and validation testing.

Create test plans, procedures, and technical specifications to evaluate RF system performance.

Analyze and troubleshoot RF hardware to verify compliance with functional and performance requirements.

Support product development activities through technical documentation and collaboration with manufacturing teams during assembly, integration, and testing phases.

Develop RF system and subsystem architectures, including:

Antennas

Transmitters and Receivers

Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs)

High Power Amplifiers (HPAs)

RF Conversion Components

Transmission Line Equipment

Conduct RF propagation, interference, and link budget analysis to optimize system performance.

Define, allocate, and manage RF functional and performance requirements at system and subsystem levels.

Establish and monitor Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).

Perform system trade studies, cost-performance analyses, and support reliability, availability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost assessments.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful system integration and deployment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.

3-5 years of experience in communication systems development, including radios, antennas, RF hardware, or related communication subsystems.

3+ years of hands-on experience with RF modeling and simulation tools such as ANSYS HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator).

Strong understanding of RF principles, electromagnetic theory, and microwave engineering concepts.

Experience conducting RF system analysis, testing, and performance validation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing, developing, and integrating communication systems.

Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle development processes.

Experience performing: RF Link Budget Analysis, Co-site Interference Analysis, Antenna Pattern Analysis

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Assessments

Experience using RF simulation and modeling tools such as ANSYS EMIT and related electromagnetic analysis software.

Familiarity with aerospace, aviation, defense, or mission-critical communication platforms.

Experience supporting aircraft communication systems or airborne RF platforms.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation and present engineering findings.
