Mechanical Engineer 1

Job Description

CDM Smith is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Boston office! Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Performs other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills and Abilities

Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good written and verbal communication skills.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as "CDM Smith") reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions.
