Long-Term Cable Technician Opportunity - Hillsboro, OregonPosition OverviewWe are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented
Cable Technician to support long-term infrastructure projects in Hillsboro, Oregon. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, thrive in technical environments, and are interested in building a career within data centers or structured cabling.
Key Responsibilities- Install, route, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling within a data center environment
- Perform cable terminations, labeling, and dressing according to industry standards
- Follow structured cabling diagrams, work orders, and installation guidelines
- Test, troubleshoot, and verify cable connectivity and performance
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces (IDFs, MDFs, server rooms)
- Support equipment moves, adds, and changes (MAC work)
- Work collaboratively with team members and follow all site procedures
Required Qualifications- Basic understanding of cabling concepts (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optics preferred)
- Ability to use hand tools and follow technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Comfortable working in physically active environments (lifting, bending, standing)
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and structured processes
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience in structured cabling, low-voltage work, or data center environments
- Familiarity with cable testing tools and labeling standards
- Interest in IT infrastructure, networking, or data center operations
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
