Job Description


We are seeking a 3rd Shift Group Lead to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in production leadership, lean manufacturing, and quality systems and a proven ability to meet production schedules while upholding safety, quality, and cost targets.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead daily production to meet or exceed schedule, safety, quality, and cost goals.

  • Conduct start-of-shift production meetings to communicate goals and progress.

  • Monitor workflow, preempt bottlenecks, and ensure continuous line operation.

  • Foster an engaged workforce and promote employee ownership of results.

  • Maintain a visible floor presence to monitor, motivate, and ensure success.

  • Champion lean culture, apply lean tools, and institutionalize 5S practices.

  • Use metrics to identify gaps and drive improvement toward zero defects.

  • Ensure SOPs and Work Instructions are current, trained, and followed.

  • Verify MDI boards are accurate and corrective actions occur for abnormal results.

  • Manage safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of the shop floor and workstations.

  • Ensure equipment cleaning and sanitation processes are followed and documented.

  • Ensure OSHA and company safety processes are met and a safe environment is maintained.

  • Lead changeovers for lines, tanks, or work cells to achieve minimum time and full readiness.

  • Escalate persistent or major equipment issues to Maintenance promptly.

  • Complete logs and administration to maintain compliance with standards.

  • Maintain and improve production elements of quality systems, including testing and records.

  • Pull samples and perform testing as needed, and partner with Quality to resolve issues.

  • Ensure paperwork accuracy for tests, batches, audits, and compliance.

  • Select, train, coach, and evaluate employees to build a high-performing team.

  • Address performance issues, develop employees, and manage terminations with documentation.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Minimum 2 years of production lead, supervisory, or management experience.

  • Knowledge of batch processing, lean manufacturing, shipping, and fulfillment.

  • Experience with reporting software such as Alliance and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.

  • Ability to read and follow specifications, perform basic math and algebra, and create spreadsheets or queries.

  • Strong communication, coaching, and team leadership abilities.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing or technical field.


Preferred Skills:



  • Background in personal care, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical products industry.

  • Experience implementing 5S, MDI, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Work Environment & Schedule:



  • Indoors, air-conditioned facility with exposure to various fragrances.

  • Physical requirements include frequent bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and grasping. Continuous standing, walking, talking, teaching, and repetitive hand/wrist motion.

  • Third shift. Minimum 9-hour days with 30 minutes before and after shift for handoff. Work hours may extend 5-20 hours beyond the normal work week based on demand.
