Software Engineer PHP

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer PHP in West Palm Beach, FL.

Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain high-performance PHP applications serving millions of API requests daily
* Design and optimize MySQL database schemas, queries, and indexing for performance and reliability
* Implement and maintain RESTful APIs following modern API design standards, including OpenAPI specifications and versioning best practices
* Design and implement asynchronous workflows, background jobs, queues, and event-driven integrations where appropriate
* Participate in architecture discussions, incident response, and root-cause analysis for production issues
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
* Write clean, well-tested code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of professional software development experience with strong proficiency in modern PHP (PHP 8+) and common frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or Slim
* Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs using modern standards
* Experience with Redis for caching, distributed locking, queues, and performance optimization
* Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (Vultr, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tooling
* Expertise in MySQL including query optimization and schema design for high-traffic applications
* Familiarity with message queues and asynchronous processing systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, or Redis Streams
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based development workflows
* Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
