As a Senior Engineer, LP Models supporting refinery planning optimization at Phillips 66, you will serve as a recognized technical authority for LP models that inform decisions across the refining portfolio. This role combines deep engineering judgment with the opportunity to shape tools, standards, and practices that improve the quality of planning decisions. You'll work across refining, technology, and external partners in a visible role with meaningful business impact.

What You'll Do
  • Own and provide hands-on support for LP models serving two or more refining sites, assessing complex needs and delivering authoritative technical recommendations.
  • Lead model structure changes, sub-model retuning, crude assay updates, and other enhancements that improve accuracy and align with Phillips 66 best practices.
  • Conduct detailed model reviews, site audits, accuracy backcasting, and metric analysis; translate findings into prioritized improvement plans and validated actions.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and case analytics for the broader planning community, and partner with scheduling model experts to align LP and scheduling models.
  • Design, evaluate, and improve tools, data flows, dashboards, and reporting that support model assurance, accuracy updates, and efficient decision-making.
  • Coordinate with information technology teams, third parties, and software vendors on system updates, release testing, product improvements, and data integration.
  • Support feasibility studies and economic analyses for capital projects, turnarounds, maintenance outages, and other opportunities by adapting model structures to business needs.
  • Plan and coordinate a portfolio of model improvement and technology initiatives, developing standards, specifications, validation approaches, and work processes that improve quality and compliance.
  • Build capability across the planning community through training, mentoring, knowledge sharing, best practices, and clear documentation of technical solutions and lessons learned.

What You'll Bring (Minimum Requirements)
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent level
  • 7 or more years of experience in the fields of refinery economics, operations, process engineering or fuels blending/scheduling
  • 5 or more years of direct experience working with LP models
  • 5 or more years of experience with AspenTech PIMS-AO
  • 5% travel is required to visit regional sites
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • 7 or more years of experience in Refinery Planning and Economics
  • 7 or more years of experience with AspenTech PIMS-AO
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Skills and proficiency with KBC PetroSIM, HCAMS/HCOMET, PI Vision/PI AF
  • Visual Basic and Python programming experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Strong understanding of downstream value chain business drivers

Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $185,400 - $226,600.
